Montreal Newspaper Dedicated A Full Page To Apple
by , 2:30 PM EST, January 11th, 2001
On Wednesday, January 10, one of Canada's prestigious newspapers, La Presse, dedicated a full page to Apple's announcements at MACWORLD Expo in San Francisco. La Presse is written in French and is distributed in Quebec, the only French speaking province of Canada.
The journalist who covered the event is one of my colleagues, Marie-Andrée Amiot, a technology writer who writes regularly about the latest innovations in the world of computing and other related toys. She gave an objective and comprehensive account of the keynote given by Steve Jobs. She even described the ritual of Jobs wearing his black turtleneck and good old blue jeans for the exercise.
The two articles in the page focused on the latest Apple announcements. The first one, titled "Sexe et titane" (You guessed it, Sex And Titanium) discussed the Mac OS X release date, the PowerBook G4's sexiness, the new Power Mac G4 units and the software titles announced to take advantage of the "digital lifestyle" revolution.
The second article focused on what Mr. Jobs said about computers becoming the digital hub of a consumer who uses all types of peripherals such as digital cameras and burners. Mrs. Amiot reminded the readers that achieving such a feat is quite a challenge since industry sales dropped in the last few months, and that Steve Jobs was confident about it.
The Mac Observer Spin:
Technology writers often like to marginalize Apple and the Macintosh. To see a full page dedicated to the keynote news, resulting in a comprehensive and objective account of the events sounds very good to us.Observer Comments
