Multi-Purpose Sound Software Updated, Now OS X Compatible

by , 2:00 PM EDT, June 6th, 2001

Martin Hairer has updated his multi-purpose sound application, Amadeus II, to version 3.2. Amadeus II provides Mac users with a wide variety of sound and music related features, including live audio recording, digitizing analog content, and analyzing a variety of musical formats. According to Mr. Hairer:

Martin Hairer today announces the release of Amadeus II v3.2, his premiere disk-based, Mp3 supporting, visual waveform audio file editing and analyzing application for the Mac OS and MaxOS X.

Amadeus II lets you use your Mac OS computer for many sound-related applications, such as live audio recording, digitizing tapes and records, sampling from any external source and for editing and analyzing Mp3, Ogg Vorbis, AIFF, SoundDesigner II, QuickTime or WAVE files. Thanks to its powerful direct-to-disk abilities, you can easily and rapidly edit large sounds of sizes up to 2GB (3 hours of CD quality music!). The handling of large sounds is facilitated by Amadeus' ability to show simultaneously the whole sound and the portion on which you are currently working and the extensive support of markers. Its outstanding sound repairing and denoising abilities make Amadeus II particularly suitable for transferring old vinyl records on CD.

The main new features of version 3.2 are:

  • Amadeus II is now carbonized and thus runs on MacOS X.
  • The entirely new user interface toroughly uses the Appearance manager.
  • The new denoising function becomes more powerful and user-firendly.
  • Support of variable bitrate Mp3 encoding.
  • Support of the new Ogg Vorbis file encoding format.
  • Exporting of markers as cuepoints in WAVE and AIFF files.
  • Support of the SoundDesigner II file format.
  • New stereo utilities.
  • Bug fixes and improved stability.

Amadeus II is available for US$25. You can find more information at Mr. Hairer's Web site.
