Utility Helps Track And Update Apps For OS X

Insider Software has released a Carbonized version of their software tracking and updating utility, Update Agent. Update Agent X allows users to easily and automatically know when new versions of their OS X applications are available, and the program will automatically retrieve those updates. Think of it as a system-wide Software Update application. According to Insider Software:

Insider Software joined the Mac OS X revolution today by announcing Insider UpdateAgent X, a new version of its five-mouse-rated online service that updates all Mac OS X and OS 9 applications, including Carbonized applications, traditional Mac OS Classic applications, as well as OS X-specific 'bundled' Cocoa and Classic applications.

SUPPORTING CARBON, COCOA AND CLASSIC APPLICATIONS
The new version of Insider UpdateAgent X supports all Macintosh applications, including Classic, Carbon, and Cocoa versions. "Classic" applications are those without support for the Carbon specification and run in the Compatability Environment under OS X. Applications written to support OS X are "Carbon" versions. Applications written exclusively for Mac OS X systems are termed "Cocoa" versions.

GETTING READY FOR A FLOOD OF MAC OS X APPLICATIONS
Insider UpdateAgent X is the fastest, easiest path users can take to prepare their applications for moving to Mac OS X. On Mac OS 9 systems, UpdateAgent provides updates for Apple operating system software and all applications, while on Mac OS X it supports Apple's new Software Update application that automatically downloads new OS updates over the Internet. As part of the service on both operating systems, UpdateAgent not only downloads appropriate updaters, but also provides direct inks to developers' update web pages.
