PublicSpace has released an OS X version of their popular Finder utility, A Better Finder Rename. Version 4.0 Preview 1 for Mac OS X allows users to easily and quickly rename large numbers of files from a single location. According to PublicSpace:

PUBLICSPACE.NET is pleased to announce the first version of its "A Better Finder Rename" Macintosh utility on Mac OS X.

Version 4.0 Preview 1 for Mac OS X is a substantial rewrite of the original Mac OS 9 code. The new version features a completely redesigned user interface and Carbon compatibility.

As the Mac OS X Finder does not yet support contextual menu plug-ins A Better Finder Rename now lives in the dock.

The new version is a free upgrade for registered users of the current MacOS 9 releases of the tool. The preview release is made available to validate the Mac OS X port and it is hoped that a final version will follow in the next few weeks.
