Mac Sightings - Orange iBook Assists In Production Of The Lord Of The Rings

by , 8:00 AM EDT, August 6th, 2001

Observer David Sjodin writes in about an orange iBook he spotted being used in production for The Lord of the Rings movie. E! Online has published a special feature on the movie, and in a story about producing the music for the film, Mr. Sjodin's eagle-eyes spotted the iBook at work. From Observer David:

Hi!

Thought I'd let you know that they're apparently using Mac's to do, well, something in New Line Cinema's upcoming Lord of the Rings-trilogy. In a picture at E! Online's Web site, there's a clearly visible tangerine iBook. The site, E! Online's Force of the Hobbit, is a very nice place to visit for info on the films. I'd also recommend http://www.theonering.net/.

Thanks for making Mac Observer such a great site!

Cheers,
David Sjodin, Sweden

Well, you're very welcome, David, and thanks for including such a nice comment in your letter too. We have a thread on The Lord of the Rings movie in our forums. If you have a Mac sighting, let us know.

The Mac Observer Spin:

Your editor had read The Lord of the Rings 13 times before he graduated high school (don't ask for details, it's not that pretty). He remembers Ralph Bakshi's cartoon version of the cartoon, which he saw in the theater in middle school. There are a couple of non-Mac laptops in the image to which we linked, but knowing that Macs are involved at least a bit in the production of the film for this book is a very cool thing.
