Apple's Web Site Thinks Differently In Wake Of Terrorist Attacks
by , 7:00 AM EDT, September 14th, 2001
The truest measuring stick of a person's character is how he treats those who are not able to give anything in return.

Today is Friday. Many of us may just now be getting to the point where we are ready to attempt to impose once again some sense of normalcy in our workday lives. We head back to The Job, to The Office. Tuesday's tragedy still lingers in our minds, but we need to move on, don't we?
Here at The Mac Observer, we are trying to do just that. We were pleasantly surprised, however, upon noticing another outpouring of warmth and humanity. To see what we mean, we encourage you to take a quick glance at our favorite corporate Web site's home page, Apple's. Below is a screen shot for posterity's sake.
Apple has always said that it is a company focused on creating things for the people. Now, its corporate Web site reflects an ever greater focus, the people themselves.
The Mac Observer Spin:
Other Silicon Valley Web sites have put up various small notes on their sites, and some have dedicated sub-pages to providing relief phone numbers, links to funds, and other related information. Most of them feel like an afterthought compared to the full page note Apple has. As we noted yesterday, Amazon.com had its own home page dedicated to a Red Cross relief fund it had organized. We should also add that Apple was taking criticism on some message boards for not saying something about the tragedy quickly enough. The company has made up for that perceived delay by making a big statement.
