Video Capture Software Gets OS X Support

by , 2:00 PM EDT, October 10th, 2001

Ben Software has released two carbonized video capture apps for use with OS X. BTV and BTV Pro are designed to allow users to easily view and capture video from any video input source. The new versions are in the public beta testing phase, with a commercial release in the near future. According to Ben Software:

Announcing Carbonized OSX versions of BTV and BTV Pro, shareware video capture software for the Macintosh.

BTV is an application for the Macintosh that allows you to easily view and capture video from any video input source.

BTV Pro is an application for the Macintosh that allows you to view, capture and edit video, create stop-motion animations, and also has advanced capture features such as frame averaging, time lapse and motion detection.

These versions are Carbonized and run natively under OSX, and they are currently in public beta testing phase. To use any video input device under OSX requires OSX driver software; DV devices are automatically supported but there are currently not many OSX drivers available for third party devices.

You can find more information about the public beta versions of BTV and BTV Pro at the Ben Software Web site. The public betas are available freeware until the commercial release.
