Apple Offers "Double For Nothing" Free RAM Promo For New PowerBooks

Apple Offers "Double For Nothing" Free RAM Promo For New PowerBooks

by , 12:00 PM EDT, October 16th, 2001

Apple seems intent on selling new PowerBooks to Mac users. In addition to better specs and more aggressive pricing for the new units, the company has also rolled out a limited-time offer to double the base RAM that comes with your new PowerBooks for free. From Apple's Double

Buy a 550MHz or 667MHz PowerBook between October 16, 2001, and December 31, 2001, and instantly receive double the RAM.

The Apple Store offers convenient online ordering 24 hours a day, every day.

For a limited time, you'll get an extra 128MB or 256MB of memory at no extra charge when you buy an eligible PowerBook G4. Best of all, your extra RAM will be preinstalled. Right out of the box, you'll have the performance boost that more memory provides.

Don't wait. Buy a new PowerBook today and get double the RAM. Purchase a qualifying PowerBook from Apple or an authorized Apple reseller.

Terms and Conditions
Purchase one of the following PowerBook models between October 16, 2001 and December 31, 2001, or while PowerBook supplies last, and you will receive double the amount of RAM specified in the standard product configuration.

Qualifying products:

  • M8362LL/A - PowerBook G4 (550MHz/128MB/20GB/DVD-ROM)
  • M8363LL/A - PowerBook G4 (667MHz/256MB/30GB/DVD-ROM)
  • Z03Y - PowerBook G4 Configure-to-Order

Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

You can find more information on the Double For Nothing promo at Apple's Web site. It is not clear whether or not your doubled RAM would come in the form of a single module or a second module. Apple has not yet gotten back to us with that information, but when they do, we will update this story.

The Mac Observer Spin:

Considering the fact that Apple charges way too much for RAM, this is a really good deal for consumers. It's also a great promo to help boost holiday sales. The new PowerBooks have impressive features and are aggressively priced. The Double for Nothing promo should help seal the deal for many potential buyers, and we think this is a smart offer.
