Steve Jobs MACWORLD SF Keynote Moved Up 1 Day To Start Before The Exhibits Open

Steve Jobs MACWORLD SF Keynote Moved Up 1 Day To Start Before The Exhibits Open

by , 1:00 PM EST, December 12th, 2001

In a rather interesting development to those who regularly follow MACWORLD Expos, Apple has announced that Steve Jobs will deliver the keynote for the event on Monday January 7. That's the day before the Expo officially opens and contrary to every Expo keynote that Steve Jobs has delivered since his return to Apple. From Apple:

Apple and IDG World Expo today announced that Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, will kick off Macworld Conference & Expo/San Francisco 2002 with the opening keynote presentation on Monday, January 7, 2002 at 9:00 a.m. Macworld will be held at San Francisco's Moscone Center, January 7-11, 2002.

"We're working hard to make this January's Macworld the most exciting ever," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Attendance hit new records at Macworld in July, and we're hoping to break the record this January too."

"Steve's keynote is a great way to start what will be a very exciting and informative week for all Macworld attendees," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "We're thrilled to move the keynote up to Monday, and begin the excitement a day sooner."

You can find more information (link corrected) on the keynote at the MACWORLD Expo Web site.

The Mac Observer Spin:

Leave it to Mr. Jobs and Apple to keep things interesting. For those who have already made their travel arrangements for the show, this might come as somewhat of a disappointment. Fortunately, TMO will be there, ready to cover the keynote and regretting that we will be missing the last day of real sleep before the show begins.

We don't know why the schedule has departed from its traditional time, but we've no doubt that lots of uninformed speculation will try and fill in the blanks. If you have any information, drop a note in the comments.
