Montreal Newspaper Devotes Half A Page To The New iMac
by , 2:45 PM EST, January 9th, 2002
A daily Montreal newspaper named La Presse has devoted half a page to the new iMac unveiled by Steve Jobs on Monday. The article, written by one of the paper's technology writers, is critical and to the point. It describes the new iMac and Jobs' digital hub plans accurately and analyses the difficulties that Apple has to face in order to bring new customers in.
From the article (tranlsated from French):"Decidedly, Steve Jobs is not done surprising his fans. Yesterday at Macworld in San Francisco, Apple's CEO has unveiled a whole new iMac. This one has nothing to do with a predecessor that vaguely looked like other computers."
"This new edition of the iMac, with its pivoting monitor and half-melon base looks like a desk lamp."
"According to Josh Quittner of Time Magazine, who got an exclusive preview of the new iMac, this unit should stir interest among competitors that do not use the Mac OS. In his article, he writes that the screen seems to float in the air with its transparent halo, inviting you to move it closer or further away, making it more flexible and lively."
If you can read in French, you can view the online version of the article.
The Mac Observer Spin:
More free advertising than you can shake a stick at. Go ahead and try it. We ask those who are decrying the new iMac as a dot-bomb to pull their heads out of the sand and look at how much publicity the new li'l Mac is getting. La Presse is one of the larger newspapers in Quebec, and this coverage will sell units for Apple.Observer Comments
