Judge Orders MS To Give Code To Suing States
Judge Orders MS To Give Code To Suing States
by , 6:30 PM EST, February 18th, 2002
A federal judge has ordered Microsoft to give the 9 states still involved with the anti-trust suit against Microsoft the code to Windows XP. District Judge, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, ordered Microsoft to hand over the code to the 9 states so that all parties can assess claims on equal footing. In a Reuters News article, Judge Kollar-Kotelly is quoted to say:
"It seems to me that if your side has access to it, then the other side, frankly, should have access to it..."
The hearing of the case against Microsoft by the 9 states is set for March 6, 2002.

The Mac Observer Spin:
Microsoft may have gotten off easily in the Bush administration's DOJ case against them, but it looks like the nine holdout states will be a tougher nut to crack. This is a stunning and just move by the courts. Microsoft has had the cards stacked in their favor for some time now, and it is interesting to see the other guy get a break for a change. As always, this requires watching. There will no doubt be a series of appeals from the company as Microsoft seeks to delay this development as long as possible.Warning: include(/usr/local/etc/httpd/sites/macobserver.com/htdocs/forums/extension.inc) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/bbm/macobserver.com/ee2/www/htdocs/comments/comments.php on line 108
