QuickTime Quick Picks - Take A Little Off The Side Please

Rapper turn actor, Ice Cube, may have finally found a part that suits him. He plays Calvin, the owner of a South Chicago barber shop in a new movie called, surprisingly enough, Barber Shop. The trailer reminds us a bit of Car Wash, a 70s movie that had a cast of then popular Black actors including Richard Pryor and Antonio Fargas. If the trailer is any true indication, this may be the best part Ice Cube has played since the original Friday movie. Check out the trailer and see if you agree. The Barber Shop movie site apparently isn't completed yet, but check it out for other information.

Other trailers of note:

• Knockaround Guys: It's a meeting of old school and new school actors playing old school mobsters and their new school mobster wannabe sons. John Malkovich, Dennis Hopper, Ving Diesel, and Seth Green, among others, bring up the action in a small western town where mob money comes up missing. Looks like good times.
• Me Without You: A movie that studies the trials and tribulations of two female friends as they deal with each other and the men in their lives. It's a British film but the accents aren't so awful that you would need subtitles.
• One Hour Photo: We forgot to mention this one last time, and it looks like a good one. Robin Williams plays a weirdo photo-processing technician is this psycho-thriller. The movie's Web site has all sort of stuff to flick through, so check it out too.
• Pokemon 4ever: What can we say? It's a Pokemon movie.

No blockbusters but solid looking films.
