by , 3:00 PM EDT, August 13th, 2002

Formac Electronic Inc. is now shipping the Formac Studio DV for video professionals. The Studio DV is an analog to DV converter designed for editing and video environments. The plug-and-play device is bus powered and also features DV to analog conversion and S-VHS outputs. According to Formac Electronic:

Formac Electronic Inc., a leading manufacturer of performance enhancing peripherals and aDVanced visualization solutions, today announced Formac Studio™ DV, an advanced media converter that converts analog video to DV and vice versa.

The new Studio™ DV is based on Formac’s proprietary DV technology and uses the FireWire interface (IEEE 1394) to ensure ultra-fast data-throughput, a crucial requirement for DV applications. Formac Studio™ DV is a cost-effective solution for professionals, allowing them to transfer analog video into the digital domain for frame-accurate editing. It is compatible with Macintosh computers and PCs equipped with a FireWire interface.

Installation of the Studio™ DV is plug-and-play, no software installation is necessary. Equipped with a FireWire interface, the new converter is hot-swappable and is the only one of its kind that runs bus-powered with computers supporting this feature.

You can find more information about the Formac Studio DV at the Formac Electronic, Inc. Web site. The Formac Studio DV is available for US$289.00.
