by , 5:15 PM EST, November 22nd, 2002

Apple is turning the heat up on holiday shoppers with a new promotional offer called "Jingle bells and whistles." The offer is for US$100 off of the entry-level eMac, making it US$999. The deal requires a mail-in rebate. The unit has the following specs:

  • 700MHz PowerPC G4
  • 128MB SDRAM
  • 40GB Ultra ATA drive
  • Combo drive (DVD/CD-RW)
  • 56K internal modem

From Apple's site:

Buy an eMac now and save US$100. Complete with Combo drive, Mac OS X, and Apple's amazing digital lifestyle applications, it's all you need to manage your music, movies, photos — even your life. But move fast. This deal only lasts from November 22 to December 28, 2002.

You will need to download the mail-in coupon to take advantage of this offer and to view the Terms and Conditions.

You can find more information on the deal at Apple's Hot Deals page. Just click on the "Jingle bells and whistles" link.

The Mac Observer Spin:

This marks another computer below US$1,000, and that might be a good thing for Apple this holiday season, depending on whether or not the company can get the word out.
