According to Apple's eNews letter, the company has added the Radeon 9700 to the Apple Store. The video card, one of the most advanced cards on the market, can be custom ordered with a new PowerMac G4. The card does not seem to be available as a standalone product at this time. The Radeon 9700 is largely targeted at gamers. From Apple's eNews letter:
The Radeon 9700 graphics card is now available as a custom option on the Power Mac G4. Of special interest to gamers and anyone else who cares about maximum 3D performance, it features an 8-pixel pipeline architecture, a 256-bit memory interface, and 128MB DDR RAM for blazingly fast, realistically rendered 3D graphics. The Radeon 9700 can be added to your order of a new Power Mac G4 for US$350.
You can find more information on the Radeon 9700 at ATI's Web site. As of this writing, the card can only be ordered through the Apple Store as a customized upgrade on a PowerMac G4.
