The Fink Project has released an update for Fink Binary Installer, bringing it to version 0.5.3. Fink Binary Installer is a utility designed for open sourced software development. The latest release features expanded binary packages and support for Perl 5.8.0. According to The Fink Project
The Fink Project is proud to announce the availability of the new binary distribution versioned 0.5.3
With more than 1200 binary packages, including an update of KDE to version 3.1.2 and full support for custom installed Perl this binary Distribution offers many new improvements. The new package manager has been tested with updated versions of Perl including and up to Perl 5.8.0.
Furthermore the installation procedure for first time users has been simplified. In most cases, it is no longer necessary to edit certain startup files by hand, the Fink Installer is now able to detect and modify the users environment correctly. Only User with a very special setup may still require manual interaction.
