Rogue Amoeba Previews New Internet iTunes Stream Utility

by , 1:00 PM EST, October 29th, 2003

Rogue Amoeba has released a preview version of Nicecast from the O'Reilly Conference. Nicecast is a utility designed for streaming iTunes audio over the Internet. The app features universal music sharing and tools for creating personal Internet radio broadcasts. According to Rogue Amoeba:

From the O'Reilly Mac OS X Conference in Santa Clara, CA, Rogue Amoeba Software is pleased to announce their latest product - Nicecast, the easiest way to broadcast music from OS X. Broadcast to the far reaches of the globe, or across your house. Nicecast can help you create your own internet radio station or allow access to your iTunes Music Library from anywhere in the world!

By setting up a Nicecast stream using iTunes, users can listen to their music library from anywhere in the world, on a Mac, a PC, or even a Linux machine. Universal music sharing! All that's needed is an MP3 player to start grooving to all their favorite tunes.

And using any audio player on OS X, users can set up their very own internet radio station, which any MP3 player in the world can then access. Host a call-in show or DJ a 12-hour block of your favorite techno music with the VoiceOver plugin. Radio has never been this easy, or this much fun.

You can find more information about Nicecast at the Rogue Amoeba Web site. Nicecast is currently available as freeware.
