Apple Hot Deals Update: Yes Art, Grab A 1.8 GHz G5 For US$1899, More

by , 1:45 PM EST, February 27th, 2004

Apple has updated the Hot Deals page for J&R, O'Reilly, and the Apple Store itself at the Macintosh Product Guide. The company also has a very different offer from Roger Dean, the creator of Yes's somewhat famous art. The Mac Product Guide is a list of Mac compatible hardware and software products on the market. The Hot Deals section of the Product Guide features several Mac retailers and special offers that one can only get, at least in theory, at the Hot Deals page.

First up is the Apple Store's Hot Deals page. The company has a supply of new, unopened single processor 1.8 GHz Power Macs. These are the original 1.8 GHz G5s that were first introduced, and Apple is selling them through its "Special Deals" refurb Web page at the Apple Store. The unit comes with 512 MB of RAM, a 160 GB drive, and the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra video card. You can find the Apple Store Hot Deals page at Apple's Web site. Click on the "Limited Offer" deal, and then add the unit to your shopping cart. The price is listed at US$2099, and the discount to US$1899 won't show up until checkout.

The J&R Hot Deals page was also updated, and it has offers on some recording software, an MP3 player, a video card, a game, a multifunction printer, more software, speakers, external storage, input devices, a Palm device, a FireWire music interface, and more. You can find the J&R Hot Deals page at Apple's Web site.

The new O'Reilly Hot Deals page has offers on three books from the Missing Manual series, a Cocoa book, a tech book for Panther, and an AppleScript book. You can find the O'Reilly Hot Deals page at Apple's Web site.

We also found a very different offer from Apple on the main Mac Products Guide page. The company has gotten together with Roger Dean, the artist behind Yes's somewhat famous album cover art from the 1970s. Mr. Dean has 20 desktop images for sale, and through Apple, you can buy 10, and get the other 10 for free. You can find the offer through the main Mac Products Guide Web page.
