IOGEAR Wireless Router Eliminates Snoops

by , 2:00 PM EDT, April 13th, 2004

Tired of your neighbors using your wireless network, or even poking around in your private files? IOGEAR may have the solution. IOGEAR's Wireless Broadband Router seeks to eliminate snoops by including a directional antenna which can be pointed directly to where you want the signal to go. From IOGEAR:

Wi-Fi users no longer have to worry about curious neighbors tapping into home networks and looking at personal information, thanks to the new, low-cost Wireless Broadband Router from IOGEAR.

Equipped with IOGEAR's Super-Fi technology, the secure 802.11g second-generation Wi-Fi router has a built-in patch antenna, which allows users to focus signals directly toward a specific location. Depending on how the patch antenna is positioned, the unidirectional broadcast can eliminate outside access into a user's network, making it ideal for multi-story homes or offices.

Along with its narrow-focused signaling, IOGEAR's Super-Fi technology delivers range-enhancing, wall-penetrating power. The router is ideal for multi-floor homes and allows users to surf the Internet while relaxing in their yard or other locations around the house.

An additional flip-up omni antenna delivers 360º coverage and stores out of sight when not in use. The product is priced at $129.99 (MSRP) and is available immediately from all major catalog resellers, online resellers and selected retail outlets.

"With the surge in Wi-Fi adoption, security has become a primary concern for many mobile computer users. The idea of having others snoop on your network is frightening and Wi-Fi users are looking for more secure solutions to prevent this," said Miranda Su, vice president of sales and marketing at IOGEAR Inc. "IOGEAR's new Wireless Broadband Router offers a secure all-in-one wireless access point that consumers and small businesses can trust and afford."

IOGEAR provides an easy-to-use, Web-based installation wizard that guides users through configuration and setup in minutes. Equipped with Firewall and wireless security packages, IOGEAR's new router ensures users' networks are kept safe. For maximum convenience, the router can be placed upright or flat. It also comes with IOGEAR's standard three-year warranty.

You can get more information at IOGEAR's Web site. The IOGEAR Wireless Broadband Router is available now for US$129.99.
