Classic After Dark Screensaver Gets New Module

Classic After Dark Screensaver Gets New Module

by , 6:00 PM EDT, June 9th, 2004

Infinisys, Ltd. has released an update for the After Dark series of screensavers. The After Dark series of screensavers feature the classic themes made popular in the early nineties including Space Toasters. The update adds new modules including Kaleidoscope and custom audio support. According to Infinisys, Ltd:

Infinisys, Ltd. today released an update to the classic screensaver. "After Dark + Fish" for Macintosh OS X.

The updated version includes a new module called "Kaleidoscope" which displays moving patterns on the screen. The user can choose from seven patterns provided or select their own graphic files or photographs. Using the sound play function, music from a CD or sound files (MP3 etc) can be played to go along with the visual display.

After Dark is the best-selling screensaver that has delighted Macintosh users worldwide since 1989. "After Dark X + Fish" adds the popular "Fish", "Mowing Man" and "Mandelbrot" modules to the existing "Space Toasters", "Starry Night" and other user favorites contained in the previous version "After Dark X".

You can find more information about the After Dark update at the Infinisys, Ltd. Web site. Updates are free for registered users, while the full version is available for US$10.00.

Subject: Not impressed

The quality doesn't look that high compared to other screensavers currently released by competitors.

This isn't classic enough to be "classic" and not new enough to be amazing.

Agreed. Afterdark had some really fun and cool screensaver 'modules', the like of which still aren't seen today. This screensaver simply pretends to carry the afterdark name, without any of the quality modules which made it unique.
how about 'Bad dog'? I know plenty of dog lovers who would love to see that one again.

Subject: Sierra and BerkSys Explanation

I used to beta test all the products that came out of Berkley for Sierra, and the ones that didn't get distro'ed by Sierra.

BerkSys were a great bunch of guys with wonderful minds. They thought of stuff that is amazing today. You Don't Know Jack 4: The Ride is still one of the best games ever made.

Many years ago BerkSys was working on a new version of YDKJ! along with a game called Humans & Orcs. I was set up for the beta of both, but they, according to the information I could get, had their games department "swallowed" by Sierra.

No more YDKJ!, no Humans & Orcs, no more Toasters. Was sad, as I said they were one of the best development houses around.

Subject: Desperately searching for AfterDark Mac OS Classic

Hello,

surprisingly I am searching for an OLD (!) Mac OS classic version of AfterDark including the setting MESSAGES. I used to use it back in the days when I still worked in the classic system and now I need it for an art project and can't find it on my backups.

Who can help and maybe be so kind and provide me with that little Software. Would be of great help.

Thanks in advance,
best Carolyn <effi7@gmx.de>
