Canon Rolls Out Two New OS X-ready Scanners

Canon Rolls Out Two New OS X-ready Scanners

by , 4:20 PM EDT, July 12th, 2004

Canon U.S.A., Inc. introduced Monday a new line of Mac OS X compatible imaging scanners that will be available later this month.

The CanoScan LiDE 35, at US$79.99, is the entry level model in Canon's family of LiDE (LED InDirect Exposure) scanners, which use an LED light source in the scanning sensor to reduce the number of components required for manufacturing. The LiDE 35 features a maximum optical resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi and an enhanced resolution of 9600 dpi. It also offers a USB 2.0 interface, Z-Lid Expansion Top, four one-touch controls for copying, scanning, producing PDFs and e-mailing, and the Multi-Scan Mode.

The CanoScan 8400F, at $149.99, is designed for production level scanning and offers 3200 x 6400 dpi resolution. It also features a USB 2.0 interface, Z-Lid Expansion Top, four one-touch controls, and a film adapter that handles 35mm to medium format-sized film.

Both scaners require Mac OS X 10.1.3 to 10.3.x.
