Apple VP Schiller To Deliver Paris Keynote

Apple VP Schiller To Deliver Paris Keynote

by , 10:50 AM EDT, August 16th, 2004

With Apple CEO Steve Jobs out of the office until September as he recovers from his recent surgery, Apple VP Phil Schiller will deliver the keynote presentation at Apple Expo in Paris on August 31, Macworld UK reports.

The keynote is scheduled to kick off at 10:00 a.m. CET (2:00 a.m. CDT) and is anticipated to usher in the new G5 iMacs, as well as possibly other tricks up Apple's sleeve.

The Mac Observer will be on hand for Apple Expo, including special coverage of Mr. Schiller's keynote.

Steve J isn't going to take a long haul flight a month after his surgery - probably a very good idea. Might see an iSight appearance though.

The 2 AM time is going to be painful, but probably worth being awake for - will just be hard to get to sleep after the Keynote!

Ha ha, WELL for me here it will be FOUR AM so I'll...uh... Hm. Well that's actually worse.

Nuts. O'well, if they do show G5 iMacs it'll be worth it. Still, I'll probably wait 'till 6 AM when I wake up

I wonder if Phil will show up in a black turtleneck and jeans.

It's not really a Keynote without Steve. It's harder to get excited about new stuff when he's not involved. I'm sure he'd like to be the one who introduces the new iMacs.

I bet this is killing him.

I bet Steve will show up. He'll take a ship if he has to. But knowing Apples penchant for suprises, I bet this isn't what it seems.

Oh man, um, yea. Faux pas isn't exactly the right word, but you know what I'm getting at.

And if that other dude's presenting (and I like the idea of black turtleneck/jeans), he better be going crazy with the Head & Shoulders

I think the cool thing would be to have Steve on a big screen via iSight at home, and then Steve reaches for the camera, pulls it off the computer, turns it around, and we see our first glimpse of the new iMac sitting in front of Steve, through the iSight. Yea, that'd be shweeet.

Although I like the idea of the turtle-neck, I think it's best to let Schiller do his own thing. I mean, look at those arms! He should wear short-sleeves just so he can flex and impress the crowd.

PHIL: "First up, the new iMac!"

CROWD: "Ohhhh!"

PHIL: "Notice how I can hold it up with my beefy arms!"

CROWD: "OHHHH!"

Isn't that the "Body by Jake" guy who trains Hollywood stars?

After checking out the picture, I agree. In fact, I think that a guy with a semi-mullet wearing a turtle neck is just murder in the name of fashion.

I remember that guy from all the videos about the new iMacs, G5s, powerbook G4s, etc, and he seems pretty cool, so I'm excited to see/hear him speak.

It took a while for him to pipe in with his first stupid comment of the week. Of course it's the same damn thing over and over. Emeril's "Bam" and "Kick it up a notch!" are fresh and inspired next to his shtick.

Here's some advice, RC/Thurrott: Get some new material, you hack!

Sadly though, It is not just his arms that are impressive. He has an equally beefy gut!
