iBoom: Portable iPod Boombox Available for Preorder

Digital Lifestyle Outfitters has announced iBoom, a boom box for the iPods with docking ports. The boombox has a built in FM radio, four speakers, and the ability to charge your iPod. From Digital Lifestyle Outfitters:
iBoom is a 20 watts per channel, four-speaker boombox system with built-in digital FM radio. Users simply drop iPod or iPod mini into the iBoom dock, hit play and enjoy the most powerful, portable speaker solution designed specifically for iPod and iPod mini. iBoom also features a digital FM radio, built-in handle for ease of portability, auxiliary input jack and can be powered via its included AC adapter or 6 D batteries (not included). While under AC power, iBoom extends the battery life of iPod as it powers and charges iPod.
Back in the day the boombox and a cassette or CD were the ultimate way to enjoy and share your music - regardless of location. Now iPod owners can have the same experience with iPod and iBoom. DLO has developed a mobile speaker system for iPod and iPod mini that packs more punch and handheld portability than the small travel speakers on the market. The iBoom is a portable speaker product for iPod that has enough sound output to withstand the great outdoors or a room packed full of people. DLO has also gone one step further by including an FM radio to accompany iPod. The FM radio is one feature unique to iBoom and one that iPod owners have been asking for since the iPod was introduced.

The product is being made available for preorder through EverythingiPod.com. The product is priced at US$149.99.

Geeze, that kind of [expletive] doesn't help you SHARE music, it FORCES it onto other people...
Death to excessive music! Death to car sound systems!
WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE SILENCE! USE HEADPHONES, YOU [unnecessary expletive here] MORONS!

Second Guest, your post is rather myopic and pedantic posts, and that doesn't address the profanity.
Boomboxes have legitimate uses as personal stereos, especially in small spaces. Indeed, I doubt this unit would even be suitable for playing loud music in an outside space.
So, take a chill pill, and don't ever use profanity at TMO again.

I found the MacObserver article on the iBoom speakers very informative, but wondered if there were yet any spec sheets available, or any benchmark reviews attesting to their actual sound quality?
I'm drawn to the FM Radio feature for my 4th generation iPod though a bit worried about the quality of the iBoom speakers themselves. Any comments or advice???

This will fill a market demand. I'd like if it had a built in battery that auto-charges whenever plugged in (just like the iPod itself). To me, that'd be a natural feature to include. Also, i asked a sales person at the Chicago Apple Store if they expected to carry the iBoom, and they said they had never heard of the product. Shouldn't DLO be looking to move a large volume of units through these (and other) outlets during the upcoming holiday shopping season? I know I would. For $150, I want to hear it brfore I spend.
I agree with the last Guest. I want to hear it before I buy it. We spoke to DLO and they said that the only place to carry this until after Christmas was going to be CompUSA. CompUSA does not have any to listen to and doesnt plan to because they dont have extra iPods to place with it. Also they have a 1% restocking fee so you cant buy it and take it back if you dont like the sound. The whole thing just makes me want to tell them to forget it.
