LaCie Debuts New Hard Drives, Monitor

LaCie announced Wednesday a new line of external hard drives, triple interface hard drives, shared Ethernet disks and a new LCD display.
The d2 Serial ATA external hard drive family includes a 74 gigabyte (GB) drive for US$449, a 160GB for $269, 250GB at $339, and a 400GB drive for $549. The drives come with the LaCie SATA PCI Card, a SATA PCI-HOST adapter, and power supply and will be available by the end of the year, the company said.
Also announced: a 21-inch LCD display with CRT-grade color rendering. The LaCie 321 Monitor utilizes SA-Superfine TFT technology and features 10-bit gamma correction, and 1600 by 1200 resolution. The LaCie 321 Monitor will be available in November for $1699, the company said in a prepared statement.
The new 800GB capacity LaCie Ethernet Disk, is a shared storage solution that up to 25 people can store and backup data across a network simultaneously without taking bandwidth away from a central server. The LaCie Ethernet Disk is available in 160GB, 250GB, 500GB and 800GB sizes for $599, $799, $999, and $1499, respectively, the company said in a prepared statement.
The d2 Hard Drive Extreme comes with USB 2.0, FireWire 800, and FireWire 400 connectors in three sizes: 160GB for $199, 200GB for $249 and 250GB for $279. The drives offer 7200 revolutions per minute speed with an eight megabyte (MB) buffer. Pricing have been set at $199 for the 160GB drive, $249 for the 200GB, and $279 for the 250GB model. Larger capacities will be announced later this year, the company said.
