XM Radio Online Adds Mac Compatibility

by , 4:40 PM EST, November 22nd, 2004

XM Satellite Radio today announced that it has added Mac compatibility to its premium Internet radio Service, XM Radio Online. Additionally, the company has added two new XM music channels available only online: Eye (Channel 26) offers a mix of contemporary hip hip tracks, while enLIGHTen! (Channel 34) features southern gospel music.

The two new stations bring XM Radio Online's total commercial-free channels to 72, "ranging from classical to underground rock, bluegrass to blues, Latin jazz to reggae, plus several of XM Satellite Radio's exclusive talk and entertainment programs."

Three Mac Web browsers are now compatible with the service, provided Microsoft's Windows Media Player 9.0 is also installed: Apple's Safari, Mozilla's Firefox, and Netscape's Navigator.

XM Radio Online is available for a monthly fee of $7.99. Customers already subscribed to XM Satellite Radio can added XM Radio Online for $3.99. A free, three-day trial is also available.

Pardon my ignorance. Notice XM Satellite Radio is very hot recently. How is XM differs from those internet radio stations on iTunes? They can be received using a cute little radio?
