Clarion to Market iPod-Ready Car Audio System in Japan
by , 9:05 AM EST, December 27th, 2004
Automotive electronics maker Clarion Co. will begin selling a car audio and video system in Japan next year that's compatible with the Apple iPod digital media device, the Bloomberg wire service reported Saturday.
Users will be able to connect an iPod to the system and select songs and artists by touching a seven-inch monitor.
Clarion will introduce the iPod-compatible car equipment in Europe by the middle of next year, the company said, and also plans to manufacture the parts for carmakers on an original equipment manufacturer basis.
Clarion earlier this month said it will release an iPod-compatible car DVD player in the US in February.

Why does Japan always get the best technology before we do? There's no reason they can't market this worldwide.
Clarion is a Japanese company. We probably will see it offered in the USA sooner or later. But yeah, I wish we could get our domestic radio/TV industry back in operation, we have some excellent engineers and designers.
Side bar - My wife and other family members gave me a 40 GB iPod for Christmas, my first iPod. They also gave me a Monster iCarPlay and some other accessories.
You all have a great new year.
