Logitech Introduces New Wireless Keyboard Combo

TMO at CES - Logitech Introduces New Wireless Keyboard Combo

by , 12:30 AM EST, January 6th, 2005

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Logitech unveiled two new products at CES Wednesday, the Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3100 and the Logitech Cordless 2.4GHz Presenter.

The Cordless Desktop MX 3100 includes Logitech's MX 1000 Laser Mouse ("the world's first"), which delivers 20x the tracking of optical sensors and is capable of capturing 5.8 megapixels of detail each second, as well as Logitech's ergonomic wireless keyboard, which is packed with enough extra buttons and controls to fly a space shuttle. The two communicate with the computer via a USB RF receiver.

The Cordless Desktop MX 3100 will ship in the U.S. in April for $149.95; it will initially debut in Europe in March.

...seems to be broken. At least, all I see is a question mark.

Talking about overdesigning. Is this another example of overdesigning?

Honestly, it looks like one of those $10 packin keyboards. Rip and burn at one touch of a button? I mean, honestly, what are they smoking? Do people really need a one button function to do this? Get rid of all those extra media buttons, make the thing rectangular, and make the keys SUPER CLICKY and it'll be the best keyboard ever.

"as well as Logitech's ergonomic wireless keyboard"

No Split ? Ergonomic

Even if the RF mouse is "as fast as corded USB" (which I sincerely doubt) the non-split keyboard is useless to anyone in a production environment. IMO.

If not why bother? I have the MX1000 and the Mac software only allows so much to work. Again, why bother?
