It's actually a bit amusing, something that I rarely say about any commercial.

I'll say. That old one was really annoying.

They have the advantage now where a lot of people KNOW what iTunes is so they don't have to explain it.

Don't believe for a second that that particular silhouette image was an accident. Damn slick move. Nice to see Pepsi pull a good one out of the hat.

200 million songs? Wasn't it 100 million songs last year?

Wow, if they actually distribute the bottles this year, this could be *huge*.

Let me rephrase. I liked the IDEA of the first ad, but I thought the kids they picked were annoying. I'm not sure what the right choice would have been, but they weren't it.

er...

i think this is too disjointed and seems very forced from the actors (not saying last year was any better)

i dont know if this will be a success, but we shall see shortly

You can tell that Steve had more of a hand in this one. The one last year sucked and I am sure he was not happy about it. TBWA/Chiat/Day gets it.

MacMinute has a brief paragraph describing the upcoming Pepsi commercial. They now include a link to this page of TMO, so MacMinute readers can see the commercial. Nice scoop, TMO.

Put that on a T-shirt. You could sell millions.

Yes, the silhouette was sneaky, but so was the 'garage band'.. I went through the ad slowly and then noticed that. I wonder how many 'other' things are hidden in this ad?

Don't be surprised when your code doesn't work, some Machead already stole it.

Since the iTunes store really took off after it was introduced to Windows, wouldn't it be more likely that a Windows-head stole the code?

You know, just going by the numbers...

EDIT:

Anyway, this is more of a Pepsi issue than a Mac issue. Here you go RC:

You can go tell "Lisa" how much better Coke is. I'm sure she'll be just as excited to hear from you as we all are.

Do you think pepsi will continue to fill the bottles so we can see the (please Play again) writing this time? Seriously, better comercial, by far. i think some of it just stinks, but its all good as a whole

Oh lordy, this one is way worse than last years. I agree with Loeb in that the message was expressed clearly last year, even if, as someone else stated, the kids were really annoying. This one is horrible though. A commercial isn't going anywhere good when you have the cliched DJ "scratching" of the tune coming out of the pepsi bottle of the two black guys (and then later show another turntable reference) and then of course there is the overused Joe Employee getting caught by his boss ... so lame.

I wish they'd have included the Apple logo in the ad somewhere, that would've made up for that crap commercial, oh geeze.

Also, whoever pointed out "garage band" you're looking at this commercial way too hard ... and anyone that plays with an open bottle of pepsi on top of an amp head is just retarded .... silly commercials!

Yeah, the GarageBand "reference" is a bit of a stretch, unless I missed something. This is way better, the guy singing Hustler at the end is the funniest.

Someone mentioned that they should have put the apple logo in.
Well, if they want to get sued by the Beatles they should have. Remember why iTunes is called iTunes music store and Apple Music Store?

I think you have to be black to enjoy all the rappin and scratchin. Typical advertising, how many hip hop people can afford a mac?

Subject: Slicker commerical than last year's, but with less soul

Last year's commercial was a mixed bag... the 'I fought the law' idea and song were great, but the little girl in it came across as smarmy. You kinda wanted to smack her.

This year's commercial is slicker and on the surface 'hipper', but its also very much a cliche. The under 25 crowd will probably love it, the over 30s will mostly roll their eyes.

Btw, is anyone else enjoying RC spitting up sour grapes? Poor guy, he knows this is gonna be huge, and there's not a thing he can do about it.

Wow. No white people like rap, and black people are all poor.

We're on a roll today!

You can tilt the bottle and see the lack of "AGAIN" on the cap. Or at least it worked for me for 5 out of 5 times.

I work at a Mac store' and although the black community has its share of poverty, so does every other race. I've had black customers, on many occasions, spend much more than my other customers; the difference in that they usually pay in cash. Cash means they CAN afford it, unlike nearly everyone else who pays on a credit card.
Sure there are stereotypes, but can't we get past them?

1)'i can't get a mac because its not compatible'
2)'what do you need a computer for?'
1)'the internet, email, writing papers for school'
2)'its PERFECTLY compatible, do you want to share an internet connection or printer with a PC? Because you can.'

Stereotypes are often based on first impressions, bad information, outdated information, or just plain ignorance. End the stereotypes; open your mind and take in the information for yourself on an individual by individual basis.

To the cash comment, I hate cash, it's so bulky (and sometimes "common"). I love my debit card—straight out of my bank account. anyway, great commercial.

BTW, I'm one of the "other poor minorities" I'm Latino, and I'm not poor.

Subject: Last years ad kids

The reason the kids in last years ad were lousy actors was because they were not actors. Each one was busted (or their parent was for contracting with their IP) by the RIAA for sharing illegal downloads. It made its point last year and was well liked by Jobs. It's now a year later and the focus is different. This years ad hits the spot for the present. Sell the iTMS and iPods.

Wish it was with Coke though. I'd have a BUNCH of new songs to collect. The contest is the only time of the year I MIGHT pick up a Pepsi.
