Wacom Introduces 21.3-inch Cintiq LCD Tablet

Pen tablet maker Wacom Technology Corporation announced Tuesday its newCintiq 21UX LCD tablet, with a 21.3-inch screen, 180 degree rotation, eight programmable keys and Touch Strips for scrolling, zooming or changing brush settings.

The 21UX (see photo below) is similiar in design and functionality to Wacom's 17-inch version, but offers higher resolution at 1600 x 1200 versus 1280 x 1024, a tablet resolution of 5,080 dots per inch versus 508, 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity versus 512, a 170-degree viewing angle versus 120x100, anti-glare coating, 24-bit color with ICC color profile and a 400:1 contrast ratio.

The newer-sized tablet connects via a USB interface. The Cintiq 21UX comes with a Grip Pen and holder, stand, VGA-to-DVI-I and DVI-D-to-DVI-I adapters and a software bundle that includes Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, Corel Painter Essentials 2.0, nik Color Efex Pro 2.0 IE and Wacom Brushes 2.0.

The new tablet will begin shipping in March and will retails for US$2,999. The 21UX requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 of newer.
