sadly some small-time apple dealers in sydney, for example, are not equipped to handle such growth so technically potential in australia could be really huge.

in sydney anyway, TaylorSquare, City, Broadway and hopefully full-fledged Apple Store would be best positioned to handle continued Halo effect and Switchers... Domayne, David Jones, etc... they can handle newcomers, but mostly for iPod-related stuff, not systems...

I heard a rumor that the halo effect was also discovered growing near a small lake in a Chicago suburb.

Having the Mac sold where people can see them in person and try them out is what is selling the Macs and all of Apple's products. Before you were so limited to where you could see a Mac or any Apple product in person. Now that Apple has it's own retail stores and others are also carrying the product the exposure is really helping sales. People can see the Mac and relize that it is nothing like it was 10 years ago. Most people think of Apple products and all they can remember is the Apple LC or Quadra.

Those computers were awesome compared to what windows was offering at the time. You could edit video on a Quadra - try that on a '486.

Many guys still don't know what is a current Mac is like. I was talking to the boss of a Sushi shop. He just bought a Compaq notebook for his business. I asked him why he didn't buy a Mac. He said Mac is a great machine but expensive and don't have any business software that he needed.

I found out that all he needed are Quicken and Microsoft Excel.
