Google Maps Goes on Safari
by , 12:45 PM EST, February 28th, 2005
The new Google Maps service is now compatible with Safari and Opera Web browsers.
Google Maps is a new way of finding directions from point A to point B, or to simply browse the roadways in the U.S. with its slick and dynamic interactive maps.
A tour shows everything you can do with Google Maps, which like most Google services is still in "beta."
Observer Comments
I hadn't seen this until today.
WOW.
This totally blows all the other map sites out of the water. Once this gets out of beta, they'll all have to scramble to keep up.
The really great thing is that it works WITH Google. You can use the local search feature they have and search for local businesses and get them to all come up on a map.

QuoteI am using Safari. I can also click, hold and drag the map around. I'm using Mac OS X 10.3.8 and all my Apple applications are updated regularly via automatic software update.Anonymous wrote:
Google Maps in Safari is missing the feature I like most. In FireFox I can click, hold, and drag the map around. In Safari I have to use the little move buttons and they often move the map more than I want it to. Hopefully this feature works in Safari soon.

I guess I'll send an email to google about it.Mace wrote:QuoteI am using Safari. I can also click, hold and drag the map around.
