Verbatim Debuts Inkjet-Printable Dual Layer DVD+R Media

Verbatim Debuts Inkjet-Printable Dual Layer DVD+R Media

by , 1:00 PM EDT, July 12th, 2005

Verbatim on Tuesday started shipping 20-disc spindles of Dual Layer DVD+R media that features a white inkjet-printable surface. The discs have been certified for use with Dual Layer DVD burners with 2.4X to 6X speeds. Dual Layer DVDs can hold 8.5GB of data, twice what a single-layer 4.7GB disc can store.

Verbatim said that the new media is compatible with the DVD+RW Alliance's DVD+R DL specification, which means it can be played back by most of the DVD players available today. It has also been tested for use with most DVD+R Dual Layer burners, inkjet CD/DVD printers and auto-loading duplication systems. Pricing per 20-disc spindle is US$169.

The company did not have a product page on its Web site as The Mac Observer posted this article.
