Apple Releases iPhoto Update

by , 1:00 AM EDT, July 27th, 2005

Apple Computer late Tuesday released an update to its digital imaging catalog and editing product, iPhoto.

iPhoto 5.0.4 addresses "an issue with browsing photos that have been auto-rotated by a camera," the company said on its update Web site.

The update can be download through the Software Update system preference pane as well as Apple's Web site linked above.

Version 5.0.4 is recommended for all customers using iPhoto 5.0, 5.0.1, 5.0.2 and 5.0.3 and requires Mac OS X v10.3.4 or later.

When Apple "updates" the iLife applications, it typically does not do it via a "patch," but by issuing a new application. That way, they can be sure that you have a clean copy of the application. Patches can cause serious problems if the configuration of the program has been changed by "hacks," add-ons, and the like.
