Mac Gaming News - Bold Brings John Deere Kids Games to the Mac
by , 2:00 PM EDT, July 27th, 2005
Destineer Studios subsidiary Bold Games on Wednesday said that it will ship two new John Deere games for Macs and PCs in September. Welcome to Merriweather Farm lets children plow fields, plant and harvest crops, bring their bounty to market and more. Johnny Tractor, Allie Gator and Corey Combine are the stars. Busy Days in Deerfield Valley challenges kids to work with Barney Backhoe to fix a bridge, build a library with Luke Loader and perform tasks with other anthropomorphic heavy equipment as they play a variety of scenarios.
Both games are based on children's books from Parachute Publishing and were developed by Gabriel Interactive. They will sell for US$19.99 each. Product pages were not available on the Bold Games Web site as The Mac Observer posted this article.
Bold Games was founded by former Bungie Software and Apple executive Peter Tamte in 2001. He used the company to publish Links Championship Edition, Age of Empires II and other games for the Mac. In 2003, he purchased MacSoft, a company he founded well over a decade ago, from Atari and placed it and Bold under the Destineer Studios banner. While MacSoft is used to publish Mac-only games, the Bold label gets placed on games that are PC-only or Mac/PC hybrids (meaning both versions of the game ship on the same disc). Close Combat: First to Fight, however, was a Destineer release, given its high profile on the Mac, PC and Xbox platforms.
