by , 4:25 PM EDT, October 3rd, 2005
Corel Corp. on Monday released Corel Painter Essentials 3, the latest version of the company's art studio software that uses the consumer-friendly features in Corel Painter IX. New features in the application include the ability to turn digital photos into paintings, a Quick Clone option that starts the photo-into-painting process with one click, life-like artists' oils, better digital watercolors and more.
Other changes include new rubber stamp and eraser tools, a Quick Guide palette that explains available options, new training videos from Lynda.com, an animated training video for kids and new Quick Start tutorials. In addition, support has been added for Corel Paint Shop Pro and Corel Photo Album, Adobe Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements and iPhoto. Support for Wacom's pen tablets has also been improved.
Pricing is US$99 for a boxed copy of the software or $89 if purchased as a download. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.2.8, a 500MHz G3 processor, 256MB RAM, 150MB free hard drive space and a 24-bit display with 1024 x 768 or greater resolution.
