Subject: Apple's memory prices

This is the first online retailer I have seen with 2-GB PC2-4200 ECC memory. Now that I have a basis for comparision ($300), why does Apple think they can get away with selling RAM for more than the cost of most computers $11900 for 16 GB
/ 8
= $1487.5 each

Now, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure that EDGE is selling a single memory module that has 2GB or if the "(2x1GB) kit" means it is sending two modules. I it is the latter, then we still don't have something to contrast to Apple's offerings exactly. Even still, I find it hard to swallow that it would cost over four times as much to offer 2GB ECC on one module. The difference between a pair of 512MB and a 1GB module is not remotely as dramatic.
