'Photo Sharing on Steroids' System FilmLoop in Development for Mac

'Photo Sharing on Steroids' System FilmLoop in Development for Mac

by , 4:40 PM EST, November 3rd, 2005

Former Apple evangelist Guy Kawasaki on Thursday informed The Mac Observer about FilmLoop, which he calls "the coolest thing I've seen since Macintosh." He describes the solution, which broadcasts photos to other users, as "photo sharing on steroids." While the free service is Windows-only at the moment, the developers do have a sign-up page for those who want to be notified when the Mac version is released.

My reaction is why the hell would I want that...?

First we get bloggs that are 99% self opinionated, crap of dubious verity, and now this? "My pictures are so important I want to use a service to push them to people's desktops." I mean how egocentric is the web getting?

I think it's very egocentric of you to assume I want your opinion attached to this story. Can't we all go back to the old days of the web, when we didn't have to hear everyone's opinion on news stories attached along with the article? Get off my lawn you damn kids!

while i agree with the first comment, i can see tight knit groups of people wanting to do this within their community. I can also see fellow stalkers having fun with this... and hmm, the pop stars are going to enjoy this.

however, going back to the old days of the web is kind of hard. but if that's what you want, i think you got it. starting the flames so soon in a list 'is the old days of the web' -- how about them gopher servers, ftp, telnet, joins to get them picture file segments back together. Now that would be a great way to move this service =P

I am disgusted. Does money buy EVERYTHING these days, even integrity? This "coolest things" existed for years in other apps - check Slide.com for crying out loud - they've been around like dozens of others...
This sucks. Guy, your reputation in my eyes just went down a dozen notches...
