Spotlight Makes Popular Science Best of 2005

Spotlight, the search function built in to Mac OS X 10.4, made the Popular Science Best Of What's New 2005 list. Spotlight's ability to update its search database on the fly, access from Open and Save dialogs, and powerful metadata search capabilities all helped earn it a place on the "Best Of" list. The list also includes a reader's poll where you can vote for your favorite technology.

>>>had to manually trash the /.Spotlight-V100 file to trigger a fresh index rebuild. I wonder how often this happens.......
using privacy to deselect a drive for spotlight indexing... and later turning the drive back on for spotlight (removing it from privacy list) caused Spotlight to rebuild the index. Don't know how long it needs to be "removed" for a new index to be built when turned back on.
