by , 12:00 AM EST, November 28th, 2005

Version 1.1 of the Web search and information retrieval browser Sinbad has been released. It features new modules for Craigslist, Wiki Country Facts and Google Define as well as a module management function, sample searches for all modules, performance improvements and more.

The developer has also released a software development kit (SDK) that enables other programmers to create their own Sinbad modules.

Sinbad is free. It requires Mac OS X v10.3.9 or higher.

No more Widgets, no more Rixstep and no more Sinbad. Please, Apple, all I want is Sherlock to work as intended. Not all these other resource hogs. Bring back my SHERLOCK!

Why? If you live in the United States, I assume Sherlock was quite good, but elsewhere in the world it was crap. I could do language translation and dictionary lookups, but that was pretty much it.

Now with Sinbad (which isn't bad at all - I quite like it) and widgets, I get much more functionality, by orders of magnitude, than Sherlock ever offered. And they're only resource hog when they're activated. Don't press F12, and they hardly tick over at all.
