Apple Releases Broadband Tuner 1.0

by , 7:45 AM EST, November 29th, 2005

Apple released Broadband Tuner 1.0 for Mac OS X 10.4 on Monday. The patch modifies some network related system parameters so that you can take advantage of 5Mbps and faster broadband Internet connections. Dial-up Internet connections are not affected by this free patch.

If you are using a different broadband optimizing tool like Broadband Optimizer, Tweak Freak, or Cocktail, be sure to reset its Internet settings to default before installing Broadband Tuner.

Both my internet and local wifi networks are showing speed increases. It looks like about 10-20% - I'm particularly impressed with throwing files between my PB and my Cube. It's become much more useable.
