RIM Gives PocketMac for BlackBerry Free With Every Device
TMO at Macworld - RIM Gives PocketMac for BlackBerry Free With Every Device
by , 3:30 PM EST, January 12th, 2006
SAN FRANCISCO -- Research In Motion (RIM), developer of the BlackBerry handheld, and Information Appliance Associates (IAA), creator of the PocketMac for BlackBerry synchronization tool, on Thursday announced that RIM will include a free copy of IAA's software with each handheld it sells. Beginning next month, PocketMac for BlackBerry will also be a free download from the PocketMac and BlackBerry Web sites.
PocketMac for BlackBerry synchronizes the e-mail, contacts, calendar, tasks and notes of Microsoft Entourage, OS X's Address Book and iCal, Now Contact and Now Up-to-Date, DayLite, and Stickies, among other applications. RIM and IAA said that they also plan to collaborate on future products.

Contrast this with the TomTom vs TamTam debacle:

Im a little surprised I couldnt find a TMO link regarding this fracas... ![]()
This article says PocketMac synchs email. My understanding was that it synchs all the other info, but does not do email. At the PocketMac web site, the information about PM for Blackberry says nothing about email synching.
If anyone uses this software, does it do email? I have a BB through work, and would like to be able to synch email to my Mac at home.

I have it, and it does not currently sync e-mail, unless they have changed things and didn't send a notification to their current users.

Their current press release states that e-mail is supported. However, according to PocketMac's CTO, the press release is in error. That includes what is being released by RIM in February.
There is no release date for the e-mail supporting version.
Also yes, they are working on a universal binary version. It will be available "soon".
They have a CTO??
before email they should fix the product they have
ical sync (ABRimcontact) does appear to be stabe and does respond. I've cleaned a blackberry 3 times today and re loaded it and then pocketmac software twice. Giving away software that doesn't work cost the user thousands (I've spent 4 hours solid on this) and RIM it's reputation. Why is RIM endorsing these guys?
