Apple Shows Logic Pro 7 For Intel During NAMM

Apple Shows Logic Pro 7 For Intel During NAMM

by , 6:35 PM EST, January 19th, 2006

Apple is showing the Intel version of its Logic Pro 7 audio application during this week's NAMM music show in Anaheim, Calif., Jim Dalrymple reported for MacCentral on Thursday evening. He spoke to Apple representatives who told him that Logic Pro 7.2, a Universal Binary capable of running on PowerPC and Intel Macs, will ship next month.

Mr. Dalrymple noted that the software is running on a MacBook Pro, which Apple introduced during last week's Macworld trade show in San Francisco. The company told him that the next version of Logic Pro will offer support for the new Apogee Ensemble interface, Digidesign Pro Tools HD 7 DAE and Serato Pitch 'n Time. In addition, Rewire and Control Surfaces support will be improved, and 32-channel support will be included for multi-channel Audio Units instruments.

GarageBand 3 compatibility will also be added, along with a Ducking plug-in, a speech enhancement plug-in and the same sound effects found in GarageBand.

Upgrades from Logic Pro 7.1 will cost US$49, Mr. Dalrymple reported.

Subject: Sound Effects already there...

Hmm... as I mentioned elsewhere today the new GB3 sound effects appear automatically in Logic Pro's loop browser under the heading "GarageBand 3.0 iLife Sound Effects". But while they're available, they aren't categorized as they are in GB3 (jingle, effects). Looking forward to the rewire stuff.

BTW, for those who are interested I'll have a tip about creating that same ducking effect in Logic Pro right now (with a lot more control) in my next podcast (plug-look for jade leary in the iTMS-end plug)

Subject: Apple ruined Logic

This is complete crap. After paying for a point upgrade to 7.1, NOW Apple wants us Logic users to pay more for another point upgrade.

The reason that there is no Logic Pro 8, is because Apple has completely pissed off e-magic. The team in Germany refuses to come out with anything new, until Apple gives Logic users the support they are used to.

This with the whole "Final Cut Studio" FU, is about to make me turn to Avid/Digidesign for future solutions.

This complete lack of respect is undeserved and uncalled for.

Apple... RESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! ESPECIALLY YOUR PROFESSIONAL MARKET!!!! WE WILL LEAVE!
