Hesseldahl Sees Future Mac Stuff, Opines on Intel Windows

by , 4:00 PM EST, February 9th, 2006

In his latest Byte of the Apple column for BusinessWeek, Arik Hesseldahl reviewed the interesting Mac-related hardware and software he saw at the Demo 2006 conference in Arizona. Highlights included Booksmart, which enables the creation of professional-quality printed books, an Internet information aggregator called Plum.com and iGuitar.USB, an electric guitar that hooks to a computer and can replicate different instruments.

Mr. Hesseldahl also related his frustrations with being forced to travel with a Dell laptop and his PowerBook, thanks to his employer's IT Mac-unfriendly IT policy. His hope is that eventually he will be able to keep Windows in a partition on an Intel Mac and run it when needed. While Apple has said it won't prevent users from installing Windows on the new computers, the columnist noted that those who have tried to do so have had difficulty with it.
