FileMaker Working Towards Universal Binary

FileMaker announced on Thursday that FileMaker Pro 8 and FileMaker Pro 8 Advanced are supported in the Rosetta PowerPC emulation environment on Intel-based Macs. There may be a performance degradation compared to using FileMaker on a G4 or G5 Mac, and ODBC does not work in Rosetta. FileMaker Server 8, FileMaker Server 8 Advanced, and FileMaker Mobile 8 are not supported Intel-based Macs.

The company also has an online support database listing important information about using the PowerPC version of FileMaker on Intel-based Macs.

FileMaker also stated that it is working on a Universal Binary version of its database application, but has not yet announced when it will be available.
