British developer Kent Place Software has released version 1.1 of BeerAlchemy, its utility for creating and archiving beer recipes. Not only is this update a Universal Binary, but it also features support for importing recipes in the BeerXML format.

In addition, the new version of BeerAlchemy includes the ability to make shopping lists, support for the voice over IP software Skype and a new refrectometer tool. The quick calculators also have a new look and brewers can now enter all-grain recipes by percentage as well as weight. Many new ingredients were also added to the database.

This is a free update for existing users. The full version of BeerAlchemy is US$29.95 and installs on up to three computers. A demo limited to 30 days or seven launches is available. Mac OS X v10.4 is required for PowerPC processor; v10.4.4 is required for Intel processors.
