OWC Grabs PowerLogix
OWC Grabs PowerLogix

PowerLogix announced on Thursday that Other World Computing (OWC) acquired all of its assets earlier this week. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the agreement does give OWC the exclusive rights to PowerLogix hardware and software designs, copyrights, logos, brand names, and web domains.
PowerLogix and OWC both design and sell Mac processor upgrades. OWC also sells other Mac peripherals and accessories. There is no word yet on how the purchase will impact current PowerLogix customers.
Observer Comments
I have been trying to get the status on CPU Director for over a week and have had no luck. OS X 10.4.5 broke CPU director and my B&W has been running at reduced speed since I upgraded to 10.4.5. I was able to contact an OWC tech on the phone and was told that OWC has not purchased PowerLogix. PL is owned by a third party now, and OWC won't say who it is. OWC did say that they are working closely with the new owners to get the software upgraded, but don't have an ETA on working software at this time. In my case I decided that it was time to go to a newer system. I purchased a used Gigabit Ethernet and have upgraded to ATI 9000 Vid card, and 1.5 gig CPU daughter card along with 1.25 gig of ram. I have nothing against PowerLogix but because of the confused state of their affairs I'm no longer a PL customer, and doubt if I will ever be again.
