Quark Launch Event on May 23

Quark Launch Event on May 23

by , 1:25 PM EDT, April 5th, 2006

Quark is planning an invitation-only special "Launch Event" for QuarkXPress 7 in New York on May 23. According to Design Tools Monthly (subscription required), Quark isn't saying whether or not QuarkXPress 7 will start shipping on the 23rd, or if an official launch date will be announced. There is speculation, however, that if Quark's flagship product isn't released at the special event, it will be available soon after.

The new version of QuarkXPress will be a Universal Binary application capable of running natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs. It includes new transparency features, project collaboration tools, image editing, native support for Adobe Photoshop documents, Web export functions, and more.

Long live Quark 4

Since then, nothing has changed other than running on os x.

Over priced upgrades and crappy customer service.

It will be a long time until large newspapers or magazines change.

We publish 12 titles and switch to ID3 and it has been great.

It's interesting to see Quark go first to Universal Binary. Competition is always healthy… even though I am a faithful indesign user. Technology always advances and someday quark may once again be the big dog.

Unbelievable but true - QXP 7, in your hands is the next revolution waiting to happen for - Designers and Desktop Publishers. Play with it and you will realise that its far better than ID's curent version. The tool set in QXP7 has some cool features to increase collaboration, superb productivity measured interface (whilst still retaining the familiar look) and does much more than what 100 XTension could do for ID. Check it out and then comment..... QXP is here to stay. Its the best thing to have yet happened since the Desktop evolution.

Quaark being first to market with a product for the MAC! Times must have kicked them in the pants pretty good. I can remember not too long ago the CEO of Quark said the MAC market was insignificant and companies could find better uses for their resources than develop for the puny market owned by the MAC.
