Blue Technologies Group has released a Universal Binary update to its application Ulysses, which is aimed at creative writers. The free download also features a new Formatted Text Export plug-in as well as a variety of bug fixes and performance improvements.
Ulysses, whose name is a nod to the classic James Joyce novel, features a tabbed single-window interface with integrated notepads, a documents browser, search and filter functions, and multi-document previews. It's geared toward novelists and other storytellers. Mac OS X v10.3.9 is required. Pricing is €100 (US$121).

Fri Jul 06, 2007 1:40 pm Subject: Ulysses vs Scrivener vs Copywrite
Since 2005, I have been writing my PhD, some freelance journalism work and two scientific papers on Ulysses. I've tried out Copywrite and Scrivener, too, but ended up buying Ulysses and Scrivener. Love them both, but since Ulysses 1.5 came out, I only use that.
Why? It is cleaner, less distracting and much better at exporting to Word & Endnote. It also has smart folders and information organisation that works like a charm with DevonThink Pro. And notes that fold up. And the best full-screen. And certainly the best design (IMHO). I agree, the price is too high, but I got mine with the education discount and it was well worth it. And compared to M$ stuff, it's still cheap as chips. As to Copywrite, it's a solid performer with the odd quirk, but it is a far cry from the quality of Ulysses 1.5 -- at least as far as I am concerned.
