TVMax for Mac mini

TVMax for Mac mini

by , 10:10 AM EDT, May 23rd, 2006

Miglia Technology announced the immediate availability of TVMax for the Mac mini on Tuesday. TVMax is an analog TV recorder designed to match the Mac mini. It fits underneath the mini, lets you watch TV in window mode or full screen, converts VHS tapes to DVD, records in MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and DivX formats, exports to iPod, and includes an infrared remote and EyeTV 2.0. The TVMax is priced at US$249.

exactly what Apple should be including as part of the mini. All you need are adapters and software.

Analog? I'll wait for the DTV version.

why would I buy this when HD is the thing now?

Subject: Analog is fine

I am not a big fan of cable or over the air HDTV. Mainly because of the price that cable or satellite companies charge. Only if they charged a la cart, but that is another subject. I am perfectly content renting or buying DVD and watching it on my HDTV. (I have an up converting DVD player)

Saying all this, this add on is what I was looking for. Something to record shows, like Law & Order, and Sci-fi channel. I could care less if it is in HD or Digital. I watch for the entertainment.

If you go to the manufacturer's website and click on Products, you'll see their TV Mini and TVMini HD. The first is for Europe and Asia, the second for North America. See if those would work for you.

I usually find it useful to do a little research before making a comment.
