QuickTime 7.1.1 Addresses Intel Mac & Keynote Issues

Apple Computer released QuickTime 7.1.1, an update to the multimedia platform that, "addresses an issue with 3rd party start-up items on Intel Macs. This release also fixes an issue exporting Keynote presentations to iDVD." MacCentral noted that the 3rd party issued fixed included issues with Adobe's Creative Suite 2 that surfaced after the last QuickTime update.

The update is a 51.4MB download, and can be found in Mac OS X's Software Update control panel. Windows users are still at version 7.1. Both platforms can go to the QuickTime download page for a direct link to the latest update.

Why the hell is a reboot required for a Quicktime upgrade?!?!?!?!

Because Quicktime has a kernel extension (kext) or some-such which gets loaded at boot-time, prior to logging on. It is possible to manually reload a kernel extension, but it's not advised.

I've been going nuts with this issue and had no idea where the problen was. I left my MacBook Pro is at work, but I can't wait to test this. Rosetta has been a little flaky to say the least.
